Public transportation includes trains, buses, airplanes, taxis, and all other modes of conveyance offered for public use. Places of employment. Statute Regarding Interference: 426.790 (1995), 651.080 (1997), 704.145 (1997), and 706.336 (1997) Interference Includes: It is unlawful for any person to beat, harass, intimidate, or interfere with a Guide Dog or Service Dog. Withholds, denies, or deprives, or attempts to withhold, deny or deprive, intimidates, threatens or coerces, or attempts to threaten, intimidate or coerce any other person for the purpose of interfering, punishes or attempts to punish any person for exercising or attempting to exercise any right or privilege. Statute Regarding Housing: 118.105 (1995) Housing Includes: All housing for rent subject to the provisions of chapter 118A. Identification Requirements: Hearing dog must have blaze orange leash. Identification card. Misrepresentation of Disability: 426.510 (1995) Any person other than a blind person who uses a guide dog or other service animal or carries a cane or walking stick is guilty of a misdemeanor. Any person other than a blind, deaf or physically handicapped person who uses a blaze orange dog leash is guilty of a misdemeanor. Trainers Allowed With Dogs: 651.075 (1999) Same as working dog. All locations, conveyances, and transportation. Trainers Requirements: 651.075 (1999) May be required to show identification. White Cane Law Statute: 484.328 (1981) Killing or Injury to Dog: 426.790 (2001) It is unlawful for any person to Interfere with, Harass or intimidate, Beat, or Kill, a guide dog, hearing dog, helping dog or other service animal. Penalties for Interference: Any person who violates subsection 1 shall be punished by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than 6 months, or by a fine of not less than $100.00 nor more than $500.00, or by both fine and imprisonment. Shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. Summary of Law: Nevada law guarantees a blind, deaf, or physically disabled person the legal right to be accompanied by a specially trained dog in all public conveyances and on all common carriers. The dog user also has a legal right to equal housing accommodation in all commercial housing and can enforce this right through injunctive relief with damages. No extra charge can be levied because of the dog's presence, but the dog user is liable for any damage the dog might cause to the premises. No license fee may be levied. A hearing dog will be identified by a blaze orange leash. |
