| State Has Laws Regarding: Guide: Yes Hearing: Yes Service: Yes Statute Regarding Accessibility: Title 16, section 16-32-3-2 (1993) Locations Allowed: In any public accommodation. As used in this section, "public accommodation" means as establishment that caters or offers its services, facilities, or goods to the general public. Statute Regarding Interference: 16-32-3-2 (1993) Interference Includes: A person who refuses access to any public accommodation, or who charges a fee for access to any public accommodation, to a totally or partially blind person, or a physically disabled person because that person is accompanied by an assistance dog. Statute Regarding Housing: 22-9-6-5 (1993) Housing Includes: All housing for rent or lease. Trainers Allowed With Dogs: 16-32-3-2 (d) (1993) A trainer, while engaged in the training process of a Guide Dog, is entitled to access to any public accommodation granted by this section. White Cane Law Statute: Title 9, section 9-21-17-21 (1991) Penalties For Interference: Commits a Class C infraction Summary of Law: Indiana law guarantees a blind, deaf, or physically disabled person has the legal right to be accompanied by a specially trained dog in all public accomodations and on all common carriers. No extra charge can be levied because of the dog's presence, but the dog user is liable for any damage the dog might cause to the premises. |
